The business was founded by the Gepperths family in 1906. Otto purchased the market in 1981 from the four sons of the original owner. He is only the second owner of the business; it is a family-run market still. We pride ourselves on our friendly, personal service.

Born in Germany; came to chicago in 1957 as a 10 year old boy.
At the age of 13, I worked in a grocery store making deliveries, then went to work at a meat market. At age 18 i went into the army and spent 9 months in VIet Nam.
I continued to work at the meat market until I bought the Black Forest Market in Morton Grove, until 1981 when I bought Gepperths.
The rest is history.
