In August of 1999, Chuck Kuba ventured out on his own to start Iowa Diamond in Des Moines. What he built was a retail jewelry business with an entirely different business model than traditional jewelry stores, one that many predicted wouldn’t last a year. They couldn’t have been more wrong. In 2007, Iowa Diamond was selected by “Inc” Magazine to be included in the Inc 5000 list of the fastest growing independent businesses in the USA. And “Instore” Magaine, a leading trade publication, has featured the Company many times because of its innovative approach to the retail jewelry industry. But the proof is in the performance. Chuck Kuba is the president and owner of Iowa Diamond. Prior to founding Iowa Diamond in 1999, he served as executive vice president and general manager of Nebraska Diamond in Lincoln, Nebraska, a company established by his family in 1980. Kuba is an expert in high-demographic marketing with more than 35 years of experience, 18 of them in the diamond and jewelry industries. His father was a lapidary who cut colored gemstones for the trade and his grandfather, a pioneer in metallurgy, manufactured men’s rings.

Kuba holds a Graduate Gemologist diploma from the Gemological Institute of America and a Bachelor of Arts degree in non-profit management from the University of Nebraska. He has been accepted as an Accredited Senior Gemologist by the Accredited Gemologists Association, and has the distinction of being a Jewelers of America Certified Senior Management Professional. He currently serves as President of the Iowa Jewelers Association.
