Adoption Center: The shelter is open seven days a week except for national holidays. Prospective families are encouraged to spend time at the shelter with our pets before adoption to see if they are truly a good match. Animals surrendered to us receive needed veterinary care and medication, are spayed or neutered and vaccinated, and kept in our care until we find a suitable home for them. Veterinary Services: All animals adopted at our shelter are spayed/neutered, micro-chipped and vaccinated before they are placed with their forever family. Our clinic provides low-income pet owners access to affordable vaccinations, micro-chipping and spaying or neutering. When your four-legged family member has reached life’s end, we offer humane euthanasia and cremation services. We also offer low cost spay/neuter assistance and a low cost vaccine clinic. Pet Food Bank: We distribute more than 20,000 pounds of donated pet food annually providing food and supplies to needy families for their pets.

Since 1897, we have acted as a refuge for animals in peril by providing care, shelter, and placement for tens of thousands of lost, neglected, and unwanted animals in the greater Spokane area. Sheila Geraghty has been the executive director of the Spokane Humane Society since spring of 2017. Sheila is dedicated to the welfare of animals and works diligently to rescue, rehabilitate and adopt out all the animals surrendered to SHS.
