Back in 1975, Bjorn combined his love of music and high fidelity components with legendary Scandinavian perseverance to open his first store on Wagon Wheel, near Nacogdoches and 410. Who could know then that Bjorn’s would grow to become one of the most admired and award-winning audio/video dealers in the nation? Well, his customers may have had an inkling. From the very beginning, Bjorn delighted in sharing his excitement and enthusiasm for the fast-paced world of electronic entertainment. Bjorn’s has always been the place to see, hear and learn about the latest technology. Bjorn has personally hosted countless public seminars and has achieved local renown for his series of television spots and Answers to Questions You Didn’t Even Know You Were Supposed to Ask. The bottom line is that we do what we do best and that makes us somewhat unique, but it’s one of the key reasons why folks in San Antonio have come to trust us for excellent advice, service and great gear since 1975.

After he was born in Oslo, Norway in 1943, Bjorn moved with his family to Minneapolis. He married and moved to San Antonio, TX as part of his tour of duty with the Air Force.

After leaving the Air Force in December of 1968, Bjorn began what would be a lifelong career in the business of selling home audio and video products by working as a salesman for Bill Case Sound. In 1975, he started Bjorn’s Stereo Designs, which is now more popularly known as Bjorn’s Audio Video.

Following the mantra of “We sell entertainment and fun, not equipment,” Bjorn has been able to grow his small, one-man, audio-only hi-fi shop into a 15,000 square foot retail store with more than 90 employees. Bjorn’s also has a service department – yes, Bjorn’s still fixes stuff. And the installation department has grown from the early days when Bjorn would leave the store to run wires himself, to a complete department with 14 installation technicians plus support personnel.
