Uptown Cheapskate Salt Lake is the first Uptown Cheapskate store in the country. Founded by brother-sister team Scott and Chelsea Sloan, Uptown is a national franchise with more than 30 stores in 14 states. Uptown is primarily a resale store, but the Sloans opted to bring in new product as well from major mall brands when they could get it at a discount and pass on the savings. This leads to an upscale environment with an awesome selection of product that literally flips over every month or two. Uptown has received awards from the Utah Student 25, the Entrepreneur’s Organization’s Global Student Entrepreneur of the Year Award, and made the Franchise 500 list for 2012 as one of the 20 top new franchises of the year.
