Established in 1971.
German Auto Works is a St. Louis Park, Minnesota business with a more than 39 year history in sales and service of European automobiles. Prior to that, the building started out as the stable for Engell Dairy. By 1926 it was the St. Louis Park Service Garage. It operated as a car repair garage and gas station. By 1948 it was Lambin Motors, and in the 1960’s it was Park Auto Upholstery. It became German Auto Works, founded by Don Lindall, in 1971.

Originally from Californina, Steve Sanders started his career in the technology arena with Digital Equipment Corporation. Steve married Julie and followed her back to her native Minnesota in the early 90s. Steve had always had an appreciation for cars and once in Minnesota he and Julie got a bit more involved by joining the Audi Quattro Club and attending several driver training tack events at Brainerd International Raceway. Around the same time, Steve met German Auto Works founder, Don Lindall. Don had opened German Auto Works back in 1971 and he and Steve formed a friendship that lasts to this day. Steve purchased a 1986 911 Cab from Don in the mid 90’s and became a customer of German Auto Works. This path would eventually lead to Steve and Don forming a partnership in the late 1990’s in the German Auto Works vehicle sales business. In time Don retired to his ranch in Montanna and Steve befriended Hunter Darth.
