Recognized as one of the best farmers market in the nation (New York Times, Sunset Magazine, Travel & Leisure Magazine). Fresh, seasonal, locally-grown farm produce, eggs, cheeses, meats, seafood, honey, ciders, jams and preserves, cut flowers, plus locally-made baked goods and other food items from local vendors. This market is year-round, so in the winter you’ll find heirloom apples and potatoes, winter greens, squashes, seasonal baked goods, all kinds of meats, salmon, eggs, etc, while summer brings berries, peaches and dozens and dozens of other fruits and vegetables. This market also features some great ready-to-eat and take-home foods made with local farm ingredients. Cooking demos and other events during summer and fall.
Started in 1993, this is Seattle’s biggest and oldest farmer/food-only market. Our first season featured about 17 farmers selling in summer only; today, over 60 farmers and food vendors fill the playground lot next to the University Heights Center on summer Saturdays, and in winter you’ll find 40 to 50 vendors.
The Neighborhood Farmers Markets (NFM) mission is to support Washington’s small farms and farming families by providing effective direct sales sites for our region’s small farmers, and by educating consumers about local farm products and the benefits of buying direct from local farmers. The NFM is a non-profit 501c3 organization registered with the State of Washington and the federal government. We believe preserving local farmland and increasing access to local food systems is essential to our health, our environment and our future.
