Vet Med is a neighborhood retail pet foods & supplies business. Established 50+ years ago, the business was originally owned and operated by the Yadisernia family who travelled to local farms and race tracks administering vaccinations and serums. They sold the business to the McClay family, who expanded the business to include pet supplies. In 1983, they sold the business to Lois Walsh. Lois took over the business at a great time. The town of Franklin was growing fast with new homes, families, and of course lots of pets! In 1987 Lois moved the store to its present location on West Central St. and transitioned the store to retail pet foods & supplies. In 2013, Lois celebrated 30 years as the owner of Vet Med! In 2014 she turned ownership of the business over to her daughter Karen Walsh who had been managing the store for several years. Vet Med supplies local pet owners with nutritionally advanced pet foods & quality supplies to keep pets healthy and happy.

Current owner Karen Walsh was brought up helping out her mother at the Vet Med pet store in Franklin. In 2009, Karen became the full-time store manager and helped bring in new store technology, new brands, and new products that have proven to be very popular with local pet owners. In 2014, Karen took full ownership of the Vet Med business from her mother Lois Walsh. Karen has a vast knowledge of foods and supplies for all types of domestic pets. Vet Med has a long history of community support as well as supporting worthy animal non-profit groups that directly benefit the local community. Two projects Vet Med and their customers support are to provide bullet proof vests for area K9’s and to provide training for assistance dogs. Vet Med’s main goal is to provide nutritionally advanced pet foods, treats, supplements and quality supplies to the local community.
